Using units like drones, you can gain intel on the enemy to make the right decisions. Units have counter units and know what and where the enemy is sending them is crucial to your angle of approach. There’s also a bit of a cat and mouse strategic dance too between the different sides. What makes Carrier Command (and this sequel) a bit unique is the fact you can hop into any of the units you launch, if you get bored with being the commander on the carrier, far away from the action.
